Today you can explore the small village, seeing small-town life in India which is away from the usual tourist trail. Nearby to the reservoir, there is a wonderful 7th-century temple and an old Aodhi (hunting tower), which is now used for birdwatching. Majestic royalty revisited! Deogarh was a feudal estate in Mewar, the premier state of Rajasthan. Their chieftains were titled Rawat's (feudal barons) and their estates were called ‘thikanas’. The thikana of Deogarh lies on the border of Mewar, Marwar, and Merwara and is an authentic Rajasthani village experience.
